Leamington Peace Festival celebrates big 4-0

IT was the big 4-0 for Leamington Peace Festival at the weekend.

The festival has grown from humble beginnings in 1978 to establish itself as one of the best family-friendly events in the country.

The free festival in the Pump Room Gardens on Saturday and Sunday (June 16 and 17) featured more than 160 stalls, workshops, music and dance, children’s entertainment, and most importantly – peace talks.

Festival director Thomas Mead said: “We are so unbelievable proud and grateful that this event has reached 40 years.

“The festival has always been volunteer run which is an exceptional achievement. We would like to thank every director, committee member and weekend volunteer from the past 40 years who have made the event what it is as well as the support from the council, Warwick Ambulance Association, every stallholder, workshop provider, kids entertainer, performer, musician, those who have done peace talks and also every visitor who has come to this fantastic event.

“We cannot wait for next year and all the years to come.

“Any feedback or ideas are welcome and we are always looking for new committee members to help run the event.”
