AS MANY enjoy their first trip back to the hairdresser, one Leamington salon’s clients are a cut above the rest after getting their hair done during lockdown.
When the first lockdown last March forced salons to close, Priors House staff member Maria Cridge – who is also a qualified hairdresser – dusted off her scissors and nail polishes to ensure all residents could enjoy some pampering.
Since then she has given more than 100 haircuts and manicures to residents in the home.
Customer relations manager Maria said: “Through tough times, small, positive things often make a world of difference.
“We all take pride in our appearance, residents are no exception, and hair is big part of it – there’s nothing quite like that ‘post-haircut’ feeling. When our resident hairdresser stopped being able to come in last year due to restrictions, I knew I had to step up and make the most out my hairdressing skills.
“Over the past 12 months, meeting with residents and arranging a haircut and pamper session has become a ritual many look forward to, and it’s great to see them leave the salon with a smile on their face. Needless to say, there has been no cases of bad ‘lockdown haircuts’ in Priors House.”
