Lion's share goes to worthy cause

Leamington Editorial 20th Aug, 2017   0

A CARING community club has donated the lion’s share to a worthy cause.

Kenilworth Lions recently donated £600 to a Walking for Health scheme launched by the Abbey Medical Centre.

Thanks to the grant, participants can enjoy post-refreshments and chat at the nearby Kenilworth Centre following the walk from Abbey Medical Centre in Station Road.

The route is circular, passing through Abbey Fields, and lasting around 30 minutes.

And the Kenilworth Centre is handily located nearby, with a meeting room and kitchen facilities.

Participant Clive Reynolds said: “I know we won’t be able to build this scheme without the use of the Kenilworth Centre, so we are extremely grateful for the Kenilworth Lions’ financial support.

“We have acquired a core group of regulars who make sure they finish off the walk with gossip and laughter over a cuppa – even to the extent of coming to the Kenilworth Centre when they haven’t been able to make it for the walk. We have a community on our hands.”

The walk takes place at 12:30 every Friday. It is open to all residents of Kenilworth, family and friends, and caters for all levels of fitness and mobility.
