A LITTER picking dad and his baby daughter are on a mission to keep the streets of Leamington clean.
Life and health coach Ignaty Dyakov-Richmond and seven-month-old Olivia can be regularly seen on the streets around their town centre home filling bin bags with litter.
The first time they went litter picking, two months ago, they filled three bags of rubbish along York Walk and another two in Station Approach.
Ignaty, who carries daughter Olivia in her sling while he collects the rubbish, says now the task is more manageable and he fills a couple of bags in an hour.
The 37-year-old told the Observer: “I thought the best way to improve the area would be to do regular litter picks, so myself and Olivia go every fortnight to check out our area.
“Of course, we would prefer not to have to collect it at all. We would prefer items to not having so much packaging and people to use rubbish bins, which are abundant in this part of town.
“However, on the positive side, most of our finds are packets, wrappers and drink cans – a stark difference to what other fellow litter pickers find in their areas.
“I am hoping our fortnightly litter pick will inspire others to also do the same and help keep Leamington clean.”
