Local charity being supported by star-studded organisation

A STAR-studded organisation is supporting a south Warwickshire-based charity.

Young People First – formerly Warwickshire Association of Youth Clubs – runs a project called Sharp Minds, which operates in Warwick, Leamington and Stratford and provides support for those with mental health problems.

And the project has received the backing of Global’s Make Some Noise – which unites radio stations to give a ‘significant’ grant and publicity to small charities which struggle to get heard. Supporters include the likes of presenters Jamie Theakston and Emma Bunton.

In the last four years Global has raised more than £11million for nearly 200 charities and projects across the country.

Sharp Minds hopes to receive a grant of around £36,000 from the organisation.

Alex Walker, spokesman from Young People First, said: “We’re absolutely honored that Global’s Make Some Noise chose us as one of their charities.

“Our work over the past five years with young people who have complex mental health issues has been both extremely challenging and very rewarding at the same time.

“With the support from Global, we are confident we will be able to make the project even more successful.”
