Local mum takes on Two Castles run for cause close to her heart

BECKY Penney will be saying thank you when she pulls on her trainers for the Two Castles Run.

The mum of two and her husband Matt, also running, will be raising money for the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation (CLDF) whose support saw the family through some tough times after their 15 year-old son Harry was recently diagnosed with an extremely rare and serious autoimmune liver disease.

Although the condition is finally under control following months of tests and treatments, it is a life-long illness and something Harry must learn to live with.

The family felt it important to support the work of CLDF – the only charity to research and support children with all forms of liver disease – especially since they work to connect children with the isolating illness.

Together with friends, they aim to raise £3,000 for the charity which runs entirely on voluntary donations.

Becky said: “We have had a fantastic response to our fundraising and hope that by doing this we can also raise awareness of a little known condition. We are so incredibly proud of Harry for how he is facing this fight and we want in this very small way to show how much we love and wish to support him through this.”

The Two Castles Run, between Warwick and Kenilworth castles, is on Sunday June 11.
