DRIVERS who used their phones to capture traffic chaos on the M40 could still face prosecution.
Nearly 80 drivers were captured on camera themselves taking photos and videos of a lorry which crashed into the pillar of a bridge at junction 16 near Henley in mid-March, prompting a warning from Warwickshire Police.
So far four drivers have completed retraining courses and two have paid fines of £30. Police say further prosecutions could follow.
The overturned lorry spilled 27 tonnes of animal feed onto the carriageway which saw one lane remain closed in both directions into the early hours of the following morning while emergency repairs were carried out to the bridge.
The driver of the lorry, a man in his 30s, suffered a leg injury and was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.
Two other lorry drivers involved in the crash were assessed at the scene. One was uninjured and the other refused hospital treatment for back pain.
