Macmillan to provide financial advice to cancer sufferers

Leamington Editorial 19th Sep, 2018   0

THOSE affected by cancer are invited to access financial advice by Macmillan.

The cancer support charity will be providing free support across the county next week between September 25 to 27.

Specialists will be on hand to answer questions about the illness and financial worries.

It follows research by Macmillan which shows more than 80 per cent of sufferers are on average £570 worse off due to being unable to work and having increased costs such as hospital travel and fuel bills.

A charity spokeswoman said: “It’s really important people living with cancer are able to access the financial advice and support they are entitled to, so they can focus on what’s most important: their health. We can help signpost people to Macmillan benefits advisers who can provide free, confidential advice.

“We’re here to answer any questions about cancer. Whether you want to know what symptoms to look out for, need advice about managing the side effects of your treatment, or want to find local support for carers, come along and see us. We’d be happy to help.

The team will be in Market Square, Warwick on Tuesday, Market Place, Rugby on Wednesday and Abbey End in Kenilworth on Wednesday. All sessions will be held between 9am and 4pm.
