Major disruption expected during Tollbar Island roadworks

MAJOR disruption is expected as a month of roadworks is set to take place at the Tollbar roundabout near Coventry.

Lane one will be closed from Monday June 3 until Friday June 28 on the busy route into the city.

It will affect motorists travelling on the A46 Coventry Eastern Bypass to the A45 Stonebridge Highway under the Tollbar roundabout.

Highways England says it will be carrying out minor drainage repairs on the brickwork of the west bridge of the Tollbar underpass.

It adds to carry out the work safely there will be two full overnight westbound carriageway closures.

The westbound carriageway will be closed for certain hours on Sunday, June 2 from midnight, and any unfinished work could resume the following night.

Another overnight closure of same carriageway will take place in June 28 from midnight to 6am – which again could spill into the next night if work is not completed.

The diversion on both nights will be to go up and round the roundabout rather than under the bridge.
