AN INVESTIGATION into the death of a Warwick grandfather last November has resulted in a manslaughter charge.

Steven Ray Jones, of no fixed abode, has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of 75 year-old William Heathcote, from Pickard Street, Warwick, on Tuesday November 18.

The 24 year-old has also been charged with conspiring to pervert the course of justice and witness intimidation. He will appear at Leamington Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday March 9.

Two 18-year-old men and two women aged 17 and 19, all from the Warwick and Leamington Spa area, will also appear on that date, each facing allegations of conspiring to pervert the course of justice after receiving a postal requisition.

William Heathcote, known to family and friends as Bill, was rushed to Warwick Hospital after collapsing in Pickard Street, where he lived.

The father of three and grandfather of four was declared dead at the hospital just over half an hour later.
