It followed a minor car crash between a Vauxhall Corsa and a Chevrolet Cruze in Shakespeare Avenue on Monday (March 25).

The Cruze driver was attacked by two men before being marched to a cash machine by a third.

The 30-year-old was then forced into the Corsa and driven to another cash machine in Market Place to withdraw more money.

While this was happening, tools were stolen from the victim’s car..

The ordeal came to an end around 20 minutes later when police officers spotted the Corsa in Market Place.

Det ins Tim Sharpe called the incident ‘severe’ and ‘extremely rare’.
