Meeting about water pipe replacement in Long Compton

RESIDENTS are invited to a drop-in session to hear about Severn Trent works to replace water mains in Long Compton.

The meeting will take place tomorrow (November 6) at the village hall from 4.30pm to 7pm.

Work to replace the main water pipe on Barton Road, from Barton-on-the-Heath to Long Compton, will start on November 11 for around six weeks.

The road will be closed for the duration of the work.

Spokeswoman Roisin McBain said: “Over time our water pipes start to show their age and the risk of bursts and leaks increases. In this area in particular we know that there have been a lot of bursts on this pipe over the last few years. So replacing the old water pipes on Barton Road with brand new ones can ensure supplies are secure for the future.

“We’d really encourage local people to come along to our drop in session to find out more about the planned work. Local residents can meet the team and learn more about our work, but also give their views – after all, the people who know the area best are the local residents – we’re hoping that by talking to the community, they will help us to find those little gems of information which can make a huge difference to our plans.

“We know that we may cause some inconvenience for the local community, and we’d like to apologise to anyone who will be affected by this work and to ask for their patience. We won’t be there for long, but this work will help us to keep the water running for our customers for years to come.”
