Million thanks for hospital staff following outstanding rating

SOUTH Warwickshire Foundation Trust is thanking staff to the tune of £1million after outstanding care rating

The trust – which runs Warwick, Stratford, Leamington and Shipston hospitals – was recently ranked ‘outstanding’ by health regulator the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

It came just two years after it was rated as requiring improvement.

To thank staff, healthcare bosses are investing £1million of capital funding into improving their working environment.

Decisions are currently being made on how the money should be spent. It could include improving technology for those working in the community.

Chief executive Glen Burley said: “Our ‘thanks a million’ project is a way of thanking our amazing staff for their hard work which resulted in the trust being rated ‘outstanding’ by the CQC.

“Due to our strong performance, both clinical and financial, the trust has been in able to invest in our facilities and estate as we work to meet increasing demand on health and care services. While we do this it is important for us to look after our dedicated staff, the people that provide outstanding care to our communities.

“To do this we have allocated £1million capital funding to improve their work environment. We’re engaging with our employees to find out how this money should be allocated to develop our facilities which will ultimately improve the care we provide to patients.”

The trust is the only combined acute and community NHS trust in the region to be rated outstanding, and one of only nine nationally to receive the top grade.

Staff celebrated with a number of events at its hospital and community bases across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire.

Trust directors handed out lanyards for staff to wear which displayed the achievement, and a video featuring staff and patients talking about what makes the trust great was played.

Mr Burley added: “To be the only provider of acute and community services in the Midlands to be ranked ‘outstanding’ shows we have an exceptional team that I am extremely proud to be part of.

“I want to reassure our staff, service users and partners however that we know we’re not perfect so will work hard to be even better. We’ve already started building upon the findings of the inspection and are listening to our staff and patients so we can provide exceptional care for our communities.”
