THE ART of dinner conversation does not come easily for some parents – and neither does providing food while youngsters are off school.
Over the summer holidays Morrisons in Leamington hope to help with both, by offering parents free meals for their children and a lesson in small talk.
New research has revealed that more than half of parents struggle to get more than ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answers from their children.
And in a bid to encourage conversation the shop will be giving a guide of questions to parents who pop in for a bite to eat.
The booklet offers advice on firing the child’s imagination rather than asking them about their day.
Manager Mike Freeman said: “We know some parents are looking for help feeding and engaging their kids in the school holidays. We hope this will help parents create exciting conversations and that our free meals will take the strain off the family budget in August.”
