MP comes in well under budget when kitting out office

KITTING out an office can be an expensive game – but MP Matt Western has managed to come in well under budget.

The Warwick and Leamington MP has made regular visits to the ‘Re-useful Centre’ run by sustainable living charity Action 21, which is based on Court Street, to buy his constituency office furniture.

Mr Western said: “It was a pleasure to visit Action 21 in south Leamington. Over the last eight months I have sourced all my office furniture from Action 21 and other second hand stores and suppliers.

“In this time of austerity, with our local services being cut, it’s important to be careful with public money and support great local initiatives like Action 21.

“Thanks to the whole team for all their work and support.”

Warwickshire County Council recently came under fire after it was revealed nearly £14,000 had been spent refurbishing three offices, including that of council leader Izzi Seccombe.

But the council said the works were beneficial to residents as the offices were often used for ‘high-level’ meetings.
