Multi-million pound broadband expansion comes to south Warwickshire

THOUSANDS of households across Warwickshire are set to join the information super-highway for the first time as part of a multi-million pound broadband expansion.

BT has made £2million available to ensure 3,500 households and businesses in some of Warwickshire’s smaller communities will benefit from faster broadband speeds.

The CSW Broadband partnership announced the news which has been triggered by strong take-up of fibre broadband by households and businesses.

Nearly 40 per cent of county households and businesses will be able to upgrade to the new technology, which work will be started on in the summer and take 18 months to complete.

To upgrade, residents would need to contact their internet service provider to request a faster broadband package.

Engineers are currently working in Barford, Claverdon, and Southam to enable more households and businesses to connect to fibre broadband this spring.

Warwickshire County Council spokesman Alan Cockburn said: “The CSW Broadband project is taking the super-fast coverage even further than we had originally envisaged.

“This latest announcement shows the commitment of the funding partners to ensuring residents and businesses are able to benefit from the modern communications technology that is so often taken for granted.”
