A MULTIPLE Sclerosis charity has received a funding boost thanks to the Regency Run.
The Leamington, Warwick, and Kenilworth MS Society Group received £1,500 from the Leamington Round Table, as a results of funds raised by the annual Wright Hassall Regency 10k run.
The donation will enable the group, which has some 120 members, to run events and help people in the area who are living with MS.
Group spokesman Paul Hampton said: “We are reliant on funding like this and we’d like to thank everyone at the Leamington Round Table for this very generous donation.
“Our aim is for everyone in the area who is affected by MS to be able to live their life to the full and to ensure they have the support they need.
“We give people a chance to meet others with similar symptoms and our social events are always very popular, with our monthly Sunday Lunch Club regularly at full capacity.
“I will be running this year’s Regency 10k myself, it will be my third time. It’s a brilliant day for the whole town and does great work in raising money for local causes like ours.”
Over the past 14 years the event has raised more than £275,000 for local causes.
This year it will be held on Sunday April 14 and has been organised by Leamington Round Table with the support of law firm Wright Hassall, which is sponsoring the event.
Round Table chairman William Frazier said: “It is fantastic to be able to support a great cause like the MS Society through the run.
“We know how important funding like this can be to local charities and we look forward to working with them in the coming years, as well as helping many other local good causes through the proceeds of the run.”
