Musicians from Warwick School and King's High School hit high note

Leamington Editorial 13th Dec, 2018   0

MUSICIANS from Warwick schools recently hit a high note.

Six bands from Warwick School and King’s High School achieved success at the National Concert Band Festival in Nottingham.

All bands played a 20-minute programme including one piece from a set list. The bands were judged by a team of experienced adjudicators on eight specific musical criteria including tuning, balance and ensemble.

Four bands achieved the highest platinum award and two achieved gold awards.

As a result, the Little Big Band, Big Band, Jazz Lab and Camerata will automatically qualify for the National Finals at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester in April.

There is also a possibility the gold winning bands – Foundation Wind Orchestra and The Super Tonics – may also qualify.
