COVID-19 has impacted everyone in many ways – whether that be mental health or physical health.
One thing young people such as myself are struggling with is finding work experience and opportunities. While undoubtedly there are some opportunities out there, the usual response received is “Due to Covid…”.
This is a common occurrence for many young people. We are eager to get going. Unfortunately, Covid has meant many businesses are closed, therefore the opportunities are lacking.
For example, take the field of law. Many businesses, while still operating remotely, are not available for young people.
It is saddening that the opportunities are dwindling, with many businesses set to have a rough few months ahead due to lockdown.
However, there is still hope for young people such as myself to make a start in a career. For example, with businesses moving predominately online, there is a wealth of opportunity to succeed in fields which offer online services.
If you are young and are reading this, consider starting a project that you can work on. Lockdown means we have more time to ourselves. With that time, we can choose to be productive.
There are many options for different fields. If you are looking to become a journalist, try writing some sample articles which can be used for future reference. If you want to be a lawyer, perhaps research some law cases, or even check the reading lists at your desired university.
The opportunities are out there – you just need to use your creative mind.
As young people, we are often brimming with ideas. Let age be no barrier to potential start-ups.
