Narrow escape for dog walker in raging winds

A DISAGREEMENT between dogs proved lucky for one woman and her dog when a massive tree branch crashed to the ground in a Leamington park.

Cheryl Bromilow was walking her dog George when strong winds ripped a large branch from a tree in Victoria Park at the weekend.

The pair were walking towards the tree but fortunately turned down onto another path just as it came down.

Cheryl said: “We got by that tree and I spotted a dog coming towards us that had a tiff with George last week, so I called George back to go the opposite way. We’d done about ten steps away from the tree and there was a horrendous noise and crashing sound.

“I thought there had been a crash along Avenue Road. It shocked us both to look round and see that tree. Thank God we walked the opposite way or we’d have been under it. Never heard a sound like it!”

Strong gales and even snow swept across the UK over the weekend amid warnings of oncoming Storm Gareth.
