NEARLY £40,000 has been raised for a military charity set up in memory of fallen Claverdon soldier Conrad Lewis.
Charity 353 supports injured servicemen and women and their families. It was set up by the parents of Pte Lewis and named in memory of their son, who became the 353rd British soldier to be killed in Afghanistan.
Thousands was raised at a track day held in Yorkshire, which saw car rallies and an auction to raise funds.
Motor company Lookers, which organised the event, were thanked for their efforts with two Conrad Awards – which recognise the work people are doing for the charity.
Spokesman Nigel McMinn said: “It’s a pleasure to contribute to such an important charity and to see the impact it makes.
“I’m extremely proud of our people for raising almost £40,000 to make a real difference to the lives of military men and women across the UK.”
