New choir keen to welcome new members

A NEW choir is looking for new voices.

The Two Castles Male Voice Choir has risen from the ashes of the Leamington Royal Naval Association Male Voice Choir (RNA).

Last November the RNA choir saw musical director Steven Height step down, and in January, the Royal Naval Association Club informed the choir it would not be renewing the lease on its Adelaide Road headquarters in Leamington.

No director and no home saw the choir call it day the following month after 45 years.

But the members’ love of singing, performing and raising funds for charities saw the birth of new community choir – Two Castles Male Voice Choir.

The choir, based at Racing Club Warwick on Hampden Road, held its inaugural meeting in February with 27 members plus long-standing accompanist Julie Edwards.

It has recruited an experienced MD in Leamington-born Keiron Howe and is now looking to recruit new members.

The choir is holding a taster recruitment evening for potential male singers at Racing Club Warwick FC on Monday, September 17 at 7.30pm.

* Southam’s Windmill Singers will be taking part at the Patronal Feast service at St Michael’s Church in Priors Hardwick on Sunday (September 9) at 5pm.
