New Salvation Army leaders 'overwhelmed' by welcome

THE NEW leaders of the Salvation Army in Leamington say they have been ‘overwhelmed’ by the welcome they have received.

Kelsey and Jessica Pearce recently moved from Colorado to take over the running of the church for the next three years.

Along with running the church, they will also oversee the Way Ahead Project, which supports homeless and vulnerable people, the Eden Villa hostel and the Salvation Army charity shop on the Parade.

Kelsey, who previously worked at a centre in the Czech Republic, said: “We are incredibly excited to be in Leamington. We are overwhelmed by the beauty of the region and the warmth of the people. We are certainly feeling welcomed.

“We truly enjoy these kind of opportunities that marry both caring for and serving our community with the adventure of a new culture.”

The couple, who have a two-year-old daughter, say the organisation of the church in Leamington is already impressive but hope to improve it even further by setting up an ‘advisory board’ of well-connected locals who can reach more people.
