THE NEW Priory Pools Sensory Trail is opening in Warwick at the weekend.
It has been installed with the help of Friends of Priory Park and Warwick District Council greenspaces team and will be available for families to try out for the first time on Saturday (April 4) at Packmores Easter Fun Day.
The trail, which will be opened at 12.15pm, is a short, family-friendly route through Priory Pools. It features four interactive artworks designed to help people pause, explore and enjoy their surroundings through their senses.
The trail was designed by the University of Warwick (Creative Futures) and Pickle Illustration and was originally supported by the Friends of Christchurch Gardens and installed in their park in Leamington, before finding a home in Priory Pools.
WDC’s art spokesperson Coun Ella Billiald said: “We are delighted to support and launch another positive development in the Packmores area of Warwick, following the strikingly beautiful nature murals created by Brink Contemporary Arts last year. You can start anywhere in the park and follow the trail at your own pace. Each artwork includes a QR code; which you can scan with your phone to discover extra activities and information.
“The trail is completely free, and you can visit whenever the park is open. The artworks are positioned on existing park paths and open spaces, and even include a bird box to find. We hope you enjoy discovering the new trail which will be open over Easter and beyond.”
The Easter Fun Day, starting at 11am, has been organised to raise funds for a new Priory Pools Community Centre in the Packmores and Cape area of Warwick.
There will be a bouncy castle, face painting, live music from Sambassadors of Groove and the chance to make a sculpture with Pangea Sculpure Centre.
The Packmores Estate is an area of Warwick that has been overlooked for investment for many years and is located in the area between Saltisford, Warwick Hospital and Lakin Road. The plan is to begin building the new centre this year if the final funds can be raised, and open its doors in 2027.
