RESIDENTS in Warwick district are being urged to take a step towards fitness.
Warwick District Council has spearheaded the creation of walks across the district’s towns and villages in partnership with GP surgeries. They are part of Walking for Health – England’s network of health walks, helping people across the country lead a more active lifestyle.
There are now nine walks in the district – Sydni Stroll for Beginners – SYDNI Community Centre, Shrubland Strollers – Brunswick Hub – Leamington, Priory Pools Park – Warwick, Chase Meadow Meet & Walk, Chase Meadow Rendezvous & Ramble, Hampton Magna Walk & Talk, Castle Medical Centre – Kenilworth, Abbey Fields – Kenilworth, and Whitnash Medical Centre.
The walks vary in length and duration but all encourage the active participation of local residents regardless of their age or ability.
District health spokeswoman Coun Judy Falp said: “Walking for Health is a fantastic initiative that helps to increase people’s fitness, reduce social isolation and provide a greater feeling of community.
“We are proud to have nine walks in the district that are improving the wellbeing of our residents.”
