New Warwick cycle link aims to improve access and promote active travel

A NEW cycle link has opened on Warwick’s St Mary’s Lands.

The route connects the racecourse entrance to Linen Street and links existing cycle paths to Aylesford School to the south and the Woodloes to the north.

The project, managed by Warwick District Council (WDC) with Warwickshire County Council and cycle network charity Sustrans, forms part of the St Mary’s Lands masterplan, and is among measures to improve the accessibility to the area.

The mayor of Warwick, Warwick District Council chairman and councillors joined members of the St Mary’s Lands Working Party to test out the route ahead of the new school year.

Leisure spokesperson Coun Liam Bartlett said: “This is a significant part of our plans to not only improve access to St Mary’s Lands, but also to encourage active travel in and around Warwick. We hope that this new route will be well used, particularly by those living in Chase Meadow, Saltisford and the Woodloes and pupils from Aylesford School.”
