New website helps Warwickshire residents prepare for emergencies

Leamington Editorial 28th Apr, 2024   0

A NEW website is helping Warwickshire residents prepare for emergencies.

Warwickshire Resilience Forum (WRF) – whose members include the emergency services, the County Council, and the county’s five Borough and District Councils – has launched the new site to shares advice on how to prepare for the risks considered the most likely to affect the area.

The website identifies who to contact if one of the key risks occurs, and who is likely to be affected. Users can enter their postcodes to find out key local contacts for each risk.

Risks include extreme cold weather, flooding, and animal disease, identified from the government’s National Risk Register as most likely to affect Warwickshire.

WRF Co-Chair Ben Brook, the Chief Fire Officer at Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The site is a great resource to help people prepare for the county’s key risks.

“It’s a big part of our ongoing work to encourage our residents to help themselves prepare and keep each other safe.”

Fellow Co-Chair Alex Franklin-Smith, Deputy Chief Constable at Warwickshire Police, added: “The new website will help you find the best people to contact in your area if you’re particularly vulnerable to any of the ten key risks, and shares contact information to report, and respond to emergencies.”
