No trouble spotting hi-vis Southam Primary pupils

PUPILS are staying safe in Southam with a helping hand from a house builder.

Southam Primary School now has 220 high visibility vests for pupils to wear walking to and from school with parents.

Developer Bloor Homes are building at the Southam Grange development on Banbury Road wanted to help improve the safety of children by increasing their visibility to drivers when crossing the road.

Salesdirector Vanessa Macnee said: “We hope that these bright, easily-seen vests will help to spread the message about the importance of protecting children on the roads and encourage drivers to be extra vigilant in any built up areas where children may be crossing.”

Headteacher Emma Longworth thanked Bloor Homes for the donation.

She added: “With such dark conditions when children are walking to or from school it can often be difficult for motorists to see pedestrians, so we are thrilled to have received the vests, which have been given to every Key Stage 1 child in the school – they are already proving very popular.”
