Observer putting new families in the frame to raise money for maternity unit

THE OBSERVER is getting snap happy to raise money for Warwick Hospital’s new maternity department.

A new Midwife Led Unit is currently being built on the Lakin Road site to offer expectant mums more choice on where to give birth.

And to make the unit the best it can be, staff have launched the Birth and Babies Appeal. It aims to raise £200,000 which will fund ‘little luxuries’ such as special baby cribs instead of plastic cots and furnishing to make the unit a ‘home from home’.

To help them on their way towards that total, the Observer is raising money through a newborn photo scheme.

Our photographer Jon Mullis will visit the home of new parents and take a picture of the family with their bundle of joy.

The photo will then be available to buy on digital or hard copy, with all proceeds going to the Birth and Babies Appeal. The image will also feature in the newspaper at a later date.

A spokeswoman for the Observer said: “This is a great opportunity to have your new family snapped by a professional photographer while supporting a fantastic cause.

“The new MLU will improve the experience of countless families to come and the Observer is delighted to support the appeal.”
