Older and lonely people urged to 'Get Cooking' in Lillington

Leamington Editorial 10th Jan, 2020   0

ISOLATED and older people are being offered free cookery lessons in Lillington.

Anne Marie Lambert, who runs Get Cooking, is hosting the sessions at Acorn Community Cafe on Monday mornings from January 13.

It is aimed at older people who may be lonely and lacking cooking skills, although it is open to all ages.

Anne Marie said: “The course is designed to improve confidence in the kitchen and covers how to prepare vegetables and create healthy tasty meals to reduce reliance on pre-prepared food and takeaways. They can learn to make simple soups and bread from store cupboard essentials and cheap freshly available vegetables. And there will be lots of tips on vegetable storage, using leftovers and reducing food wastage.”

Those interested can email [email protected] or enquire at the cafe. Spaces are limited.
