AN OLYMPIC medallist put new multi-million pound leisure facilities in Warwick through their paces.

Colin Jackson marked the opening of St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre with a family fun day including the chance to compete against the former hurdler and take part in a circuits class.

Warwick District Council has pumped nearly £15million into upgrading facilities at St Nicholas Park and Newbold Comyn in Leamington, both of which are now run by leisure providers Everyone Active.

St Nicholas Park now includes a new gym, fitness suite and changing rooms and revamped pool area.

District council culture spokesman Michael Coker said: “I’m hoping the party doesn’t end here and that local people will make their new leisure centre a regular part of their lives.”
