Outdoor sports facilities in Warwick district re-open

Leamington Editorial 15th May, 2020 Updated: 15th May, 2020   0

SOME outdoor sports facilities in the district will be re-opening, in line with the latest government guidance, today.

The tennis courts at Victoria Park and Christchurch Gardens in Leamington, St Nicholas Park in Warwick and Abbey Fields in Kenilworth will be open daily from 10am to 7pm.

Access will be restricted to two players per court, unless they are from the same household with those using the facilities reminded of the strict rules regarding hygiene and social distancing.

In conjunction with Bowls England, the council also plans to open a limited number of bowling greens in Victoria Park within the next few days.

Although group fitness sessions are not permitted people can now use the parks for one to one personal training while observing national health and safety requirements.

District culture spokeswoman Coun Moira-Ann Grainger said: “During the course of the Covid-19 pandemic we have done everything we can to protect the health and safety of the public.

“Even though some government restrictions have been lifted this will remain our top priority. We therefore hope that people will enjoy using and sharing these facilities once again by respecting and adhering to the strict guidelines for their use.”

The use of public facilities will be strictly monitored and their opening will remain under constant review.
