Packed weekend of events to mark Shakespeare Week

PARKOUR Romeo and Juliet is among the packed programme of events set to mark the 10th anniversary of Shakespeare Week

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust will welcome visitors to Henley Street in Stratford on Saturday March 23 and Sunday March 24 for a weekend full of fun, games and merriment, all inspired by the incredible women in William Shakespeare’s life, as well as marking 10 years of Shakespeare Week – the national celebration of Shakespeare aimed at primary school children.

SBT spokesperson Sarah Fisher said: “We are excited to welcome families to Henley Street to join us in celebrating the 10th anniversary of Shakespeare Week.

‘’From dance performances and cheeky jesters to journaling workshops and live arts and crafts, led by our heritage team and all inspired by the Women Who Made Shakespeare, the weekend will truly be one to remember.’’

Families can expect live performances of a Romeo and Juliet inspired parkour dance in front of Shakespeare’s Birthplace, as well as a drop-in creative journaling workshop with writer and illustrator Marcia Williams.

Children can also unleash their creativity with a fun workshop crafting portraits of Queen Elizabeth I with West Midlands-based artist Tat Vision. The team from Events From History will also be performing some of Shakespeare’s most famous scenes, some with a female twist, and then inviting the audience to the stage in an interactive sketch.
