People urged to get in the saddle for Myton Hospice

Leamington Editorial 8th Jul, 2016 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

CYCLISTS are being asked to jump in the saddle in aid of The Myton Hospices.

The hospice is once again holding a cycle challenge through the Warwickshire and Cotswolds countryside on Sunday July 31 – with 50km, 100km and 100mile scenic routes.

The 50km cycle route features moderate inclines, while 100km is suggested for more experienced riders.

The gruelling 100mile challenge – also known as the ‘century ride’ – is for advanced cyclists and is through demanding terrain with more than 6,000 feet of hill climbing.

There will also be a ‘hill climb challenge’ where the first rider to the top will be crowned ‘King or Queen of Myton’ and receive a trophy.

The registration fee for the 50km race is £20, and the entry fee for both the 100km and century ride is £30. Those taking part are encouraged to raise as much sponsorship as possible.

DON’T be late for a very important date – Myton Hospice’s Summer Fete.

The hospice is hosting a Alice in Wonderland themed fete, complete with Mad Hatter’s tea party, croquet pitch and giant chess board on Sunday July 17 between noon and 4pm.

There will also be pony rides, an auction, bouncy castle, face painting, stalls, pimms and much more. Alice and the Mad Hatter are also set to make an appearance.

Hospice events coordinator Lucy Turner said: “The Summer Fete is a fantastic local event for the whole family.

“This year we are aiming to raise £18,500, which will enable us to continue providing specialist care for our patients and their loved one in Coventry and Warwickshire.”

Entry costs £1 for adults and children go free.
