PEOPLE are being urged to celebrate their local park with a plastic free picnic.
Members of the Friends of Victoria Park group are urging residents to take part in nationwide Have a Field Day on Saturday (July 6).
It sees residents take a picnic to the park and enjoy the outdoors and recreational activities on offer.
Friends’ spokeswoman Kathryn Courtenay-Evans said: “Picnics are an easy way for families to enjoy their local park and Victoria Park, with its open space, play area and tennis courts, is a lovely location.
“We are particularly keen that special efforts are made to prepare plastic-free picnics to help protect a healthy environment for all.”
