PICTURE SPECIAL: Japan comes to Leamington

JPOP, samurais and taiko drumming were just some of the highlights of a Japanese festival in Leamington.

The IKIGAI Japan Festival took place at the Assembly Rooms on Saturday (October 21) and Sunday (October 22) and brought a taste of Japanese culture to the town.

Crafters and artists set up stall selling their wares inspired by Manga, Pokemon and more traditional Japanese art.

There was plenty to tickle the taste buds thanks to a host of Japanese food vendors.




And for those who wanted a more hands-on experience there were workshops in everything from Japanese terratium and calligraphy to Furoshiki and Ikebana.

Other highlights included spooky ghost tales and Japan Taiko drumming performances.


World renowned martial arts choreographer Tetsuro Shimaguchi and his Samurai arts group, KAMUI put on a show on Saturday night.

While there was Cosplay fashion on show and Jpop artists including MION to entertain the crowds.
