THE GLOBAL spirit of Christmas is once again being celebrated in the district.

More than 120 nativity scenes from across the world are on display at Abbey Hill United Reform Church in Kenilworth until Saturday (December 14), between 10am to 4pm, having previously been on show at Leamington’s Radford Road Church.

The sets, from as far afield as Peru and Guatemala, are owned by John and Marjorie Carrier from Milverton.

The husband and wife team first showed their collection in 2012 and have added to it ever since, often putting the nativity sets on display in churches across the country.

Marjorie said: “The exhibition has been taken around the country during Advent each year and has been seen by hundreds of people. We hope by looking at the exhibits people have thought about the Christmas message and realised a little more about the true meaning of Christmas.

“The models come from many different countries and are made of many different materials. There are tin ones from Mexico, models made from banana fibre from Kenya, rolled paper models from Sri Lanka, handmade pottery models from Peru, olive wood models made in Bethlehem and many more from all around the world.”
