KENILWORTH lido looks set to be replaced with an indoor pool.
Warwick District Council says following a public consultation it is hoping to extend and improve the town’s leisure facilities.
It plans to create a new, indoor pool at Abbey Fields which could be opened up onto an outdoor patio area throughout summer.
The changing rooms, reception and cafe areas would also be upgraded and the tennis courts and pavilion refurbished.
There are also proposals to build a new leisure centre at Castle Farm with a six court sports hall, 80 station gym and studios.
Warwick District Council says it hopes it will mirror the success of recently revamped leisure centres in Leamington and Warwick.
Spokesman for culture, Coun Michael Coker said: “In line with the huge improvements we have made to the leisure centres in Leamington and Warwick, we believe that our innovative plans will offer the town of Kenilworth some of the best facilities in the country and at the same time respect the views of local people in this very special location.”
