Plans to turn former social club into student flats refused

Laura Kearns 14th Feb, 2017

PLANS to demolish a former Leamington social club to make way for student flats have been refused by Warwick District Council.

An application was submitted to turn Priors Street club – based next to the Clemens Street canal bridge in Old Town – into a block of 26 student flats.

The building is currently used as as a homeless shelter twice a week by Leamington Winter Support Night Shelter. The council received 15 objections to the proposals and have refused the plans saying there is a shortfall in parking and the scale of the building was not appropriate for the area.
