'Plonker' Reliant Robin driver caught speeding near Wellesbourne

A RELIANT Robin driver has been publicly branded ‘a plonker’ by police in Warwickshire.

The driver was landed with a speeding fine after the three-wheeled vehicle whizzed past an unmarked police car on the A429, near Wellesbourne.

A post on the Warwickshire Police Facebook page read: “The driver of this vehicle, yes a three wheel Reliant Robin, overtook one of our unmarked cars on the A429 near Wellesbourne in excess of the posted speed limit. We stopped the vehicle and reported the driver accordingly. What a plonker!”

The comment is a reference to the beloved sitcom Only Fools and Horses, in which a Reliant Robin is famously driven by wheeler dealer ‘Del Boy’ Trotter – whose catchphrase ‘you plonker’ is mostly directed at his long-suffering sibling Rodney.
