Poet to read message of peace at White Poppy ceremony

Leamington Editorial 5th Nov, 2018   0

PEACE poet Anthony Owen will be reading a poem about the First World War at Leamington’s White Poppy ceremony at the town’s war memorial in Euston Place on November 11, starting at 2.30pm.

The white poppy commemorates the many innocent civilians, including women and children who have lost their lives in conflicts around the world, as well as remembering soldiers on all sides, from the Great War to today.

The white poppy symbolises looking forward in hope to a more peaceful world and a commitment to work for peace.

The ceremony is being held with the co-operation of the British Legion and Leamington Town Council.
