Police crackdown on vehicle crime leads to two arrests in south Warwickshire

TWO arrests have been made in south Warwickshire as part of a crackdown on car crime.

Police arrested a 19-year-old man from Stratford on suspicion of interfering with a motor vehicle on Friday morning (January 27).

Officers had been responding to a report of two men trying car door handles in Holbrook Road. He was later released under investigation while enquiries continue.

And a woman was arrested on Friday evening (Friday 27) after officers responded to a report of someone trying car doors in Cliff Road, Leamington.

Georgette Motte, 30, of Grange Close, Warwick was later charged with interfering with motor vehicles and will appear at Warwickshire Magistrates’ Court on March 31.

A total of eight arrests were made and four stolen vehicles seized over the weekend across Warwickshire.

Warwickshire Police said tacking vehicle crime was currently a top priority for the force.

Detective Inspector Wayne Reynolds, vehicle crime lead for Warwickshire Police, continued: “With the help of the public we can continue to tackle vehicle crime.

“Taking simple precautions to protect your vehicle makes it harder for criminals to operate in the county.

“Providing information can also be crucial; so let us know of anyone acting suspiciously around vehicles or anyone you believe is involved in vehicle crime.”
