Police grants being offered to clamp down on crime

Laura Kearns 21st Nov, 2016   0

GRANTS are available for groups working to clamp down on crime.

Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Seccombe is offering cash for community projects, crime-reduction initiatives, victim support services and non-profit groups.

Last year the commissioner paid out some £1.5million in grants, although it is not yet clear how much will be available for 2017.

Groups will have to show how they put victims first, ensure efficient and effective policing, protect people from harm and prevent crime.

Mr Seccombe said: “The priorities in my police and crime plan are based on the issues that people have told me are a concern to them and the aim is to create a safer and more secure Warwickshire for everyone. The police cannot do this alone and I am keen to channel resources towards projects and initiatives which can make a real difference to local communities.”
