Police hunt Leamington scooter thieves

POLICE are hunting thieves who threatened a teenager with weapons before stealing his electric scooter.

The incident, which occurred at around 9.30pm in Cromer Road, was among three to happen in Leamington on Friday (April 16).

Two males and a female, brandishing weapons, threatened a boy before fleeing in a dark vehicle with the scooter.

Shortly before the incident, a victim was approached by two males who demanded his e-scooter in Hanworth Close. He fled and the offenders left empty handed.

A third incident occurred in Hanworth Close at around 10.40pm. Two males were reported to have smashed the windows on two cars parked. They were disturbed and fled on foot.

Det Sgt Pete Sherwood said: “We are treating these incidents as linked and are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything. We’d also like to speak to anyone who has dash cam or CCTV footage from the area around the time of the incidents.

“It looks as though the offenders were targeting e-scooters; we will have additional patrols in the area but we would also encourage anyone with an e-scooter to show extra caution.”

Anyone with information should call 101. Alternatively information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
