A POLICE officer was hit in the face during the arrest of two men on suspicion of drug offences in Leamington.
The men, both from Coventry, were searched by officers in Covent Garden car park in the town centre. Class A drugs, suspected cannabis mobile phones and cash were seized.
A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an officer and concerned in the supply of controlled drugs, and a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in supplying controlled drugs, criminal damage and escaping lawful custody.
Both have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
The assaulted officer suffered swelling to his face.
