A POLICE officer was nearly dragged along with a car whose driver was attempting a getaway.
The cloned Seat Leon was spotted in the Tesco car park in Warwick’s Emscote Road on Saturday.
Officers parked their car behind the vehicle to prevent it leaving and on seeing them, the driver reverse rammed the vehicle, putting a hole in the driver’s door.
The Leon driver attempted to drive off as an officer was leaning into the vehicle. They were removed from the car by force to stop the officer being dragged along with it.
The driver, who was wanted on recall to prison and is disqualified from driving, was arrested and is in police custody.
