Projects in Warwickshire urged to bid for cash in fight against crime

PROJECTS to keep communities safe and look after victims of crime are being encouraged to apply for cash.

Warwickshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Seccombe is inviting community groups to apply for a share of £658,000 under the Commissioner’s Grants Scheme.

Now in its fourth year, the scheme is an annual award which supports initiatives which contribute to the county’s Police and Crime Plan.

Private, public and third sector organisations can apply to fund non-profit projects addressing knife crime, road safety, domestic abuse and reducing re-offending.

Mr Seccombe said: “Frontline policing relies on the support and work of a range of different agencies and initiatives.

“I’ve been proud to support a very diverse range of initiatives in previous years and I am keen to do so again in 2020 and beyond.

“By channelling resources towards the right projects and initiatives, I can make a real difference to local communities.

“I hope to be able to provide a great New Year ‘present’ for a range of initiatives which can create a safer and more secure Warwickshire for everyone.”

Organisations can submit multiple bids. Each application will be evaluated separately.

The closing date for applications is 6pm on January 31. Visit www.warwickshire-pcc.gov.uk for more information and to apply.
