Prolific south Warwickshire fundraiser steps out for last challenge of 2023

A PROLIFIC south Warwickshire fundraiser is gearing up for her last challenge of the year.

Throughout 2023, Morrisons community champion Alex Pearson has raised funds for Safeline, LWS Nightshelter, Together for Short Lives, Molly Olly’s, Warwickshire Pride, Warwickshire Search and Rescue, and Young People First – banking over £15,000.

And finally on Friday (December 1) Alex will be taking part in a sponsored walk for Evelyn’s Gift.

The charity was set up in Evelyn’s name by her mum Helen Smith and hands out acts of kindness and support to those in need, including children going off to university, prison leavers and local charities.

Alex said, “ I’m so thrilled to get to this time of year as this is one of my favourite charities to support.

The reason for that is because the charity supports my other charities. The charity gets food supplies when LWS Nightshelter are low, they help get craft material for Safeline, they work with Molly Olly’s, they even work with search and rescue.

“Evelyn’s gift is a small charity and every penny raised goes to the charity. This year is marking Evelyn’s 18th birthday which is in everyone’s life is a big deal. Sadly we haven’t got Evelyn with us but I’m going to make this day as special as possible with a surprise for Helen and Trevor at the end.”

The team, including Evelyn’s dad Trevor, will be walking 18 miles starting at Kenilworth Castle and finishing at Warwick Castle, stopping at locations which mean something to the family and Evelyn.

To make the day extra special, Alex will be turning on the Christmas lights at Warwick Castle in honour of Evelyn.
