Proposals put forward for new hotel in Warwick

Leamington Editorial 17th Oct, 2019 Updated: 18th Oct, 2019   0

A NEW hotel could be part of a major development project in Warwick.

Proposals have been made for a 100-bed Travel Lodge hotel, a BMW car dealership, a car park and a bar or cafe on land off Gallows Hill.

Planning chiefs say the the hotel – midway between Leamington and Warwick – would be useful to businesses in the area and those visiting the proposed new community stadium. The 5,000-capacity stadium will be home to Leamington Football Club as well as an eight-lane running track.

The scheme is the result of nine years of planning by the football club, which plays at National League North level, and Warwick District Council and includes a new road to ease congestion in and around the site.

It is part of plans which also include 375 homes – 185 of which are to be offered as affordable, social rented or shared ownership dwellings – and other facilities including a school, a medical centre community hall, shops.
