PROTESTERS in Leamington will be campaigning against a visit from US president Donald Trump .

The Mid-Warwickshire Group of Amnesty International is inviting others opposed to Mr Trump’s UK visit, to join a peaceful demonstration outside Leamington Town Hall on Friday July 13 from noon to 2pm.

A second protest organised by a group called ‘Stop Trump’ will then follow between 5pm and 6.30pm.

An Amnesty International spokesperson said: “Not only do we consider it unacceptable that President Trump has recently pulled the US out of the UN Human Rights Council, we also object to his sexist and racist statements and actions, his refusal to recognise the harmful consequences of global warming by abandoning the Paris Agreement on climate change, and we also consider his potentially disastrous economic policies in imposing unnecessary import tariffs as a threat to international economic stability and world peace.”
